THE LNP’S BUDGET BLACK HOLE EXPOSED
The LNP’s budget black hole has been exposed, two days before the Queensland State Election.
Now we know why they didn’t share their plans with Queensland.
Today the LNP finally released the costings on how they would pay for their election commitments.
The LNP will have to cut over 5,700 jobs in the first year rising to over 17,300 jobs in the third year.
This year the LNP have hit a new low. Every election politicians say they will cut consultancies and travel to pay for their promises.
This year the LNP have made the extraordinary claim that they can cut $6.8 billion dollars in consultancies alone.
This is after the ALP had already announced a cut in consultancies (along with advertising and accommodation) in this years budget.
The LNP claims that a new public sector agency, at a cost of $85 million, will take over all of the consultancies. This is fanciful.
The only way that these promises can be paid for is cutting $750 million from departmental and agency budgets in the first year. It rises to over $2.5billion in the third year.
These saving can only be made by cutting staff. That will be over 5,700 in the first year rising to over 17,300 in the final year.
The LNP have been hiding these figures for the last four weeks because they know they are ridiculous and will not stand up to any public scrutiny.
